BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from adding a new key or even replacing the ECU to bypass your security system since it requires a correct PIN code to begin the engine.
In contrast to other immobilisers, unlike other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LEDs or key-fobs. It makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to allow you enter a unique disarming sequence that you can only remember.
Stop & Start
If you've ever driven a BMW or used its stop-start feature, you might have noticed that the engine continues to run for a period of 30 seconds after you have released the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for a signal that comes from the ignition key. If it detects this, the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that stops this by stopping the vehicle whenever you press a button.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser, which is a next-generation device, doesn't require you to cut OEM wires or to add key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with an unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that are not accessible through the standard menus for media. For example volume up/down, source controls, cruise control, air conditioning and more. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 digits, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to guess or break.
In addition, we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when the car is in for servicing so that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. This can be accomplished by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return, the Ghost will automatically arm again.
Ghost immobilisers are highly recommended for top-of-the-line automobiles. It is completely undetectable, does not require cutting the original factory wires and is able to shut down the engine of your vehicle when an incorrect pin code is entered. Service Mode / Valet Mode
The Ghost is a top-of-the-line immobiliser designed to stop your vehicle from being taken by key cloning or hacking. It works by utilising the vehicles factory buttons to create an unique sequence of presses that only you can identify, much like the pin code security on your mobile phone. Its discreet and incredibly effective in stopping even the most zealous thieves from ever trying!
If you're parked at your home or in a meeting and greet situation when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This lets you start the vehicle using your keys but prevents the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is perfect for customers who have to hand over their cars to valet companies or trusted family members or friends. It also allows you to bring the vehicle into the garage for repairs, maintenance etc without worrying about it being tampered with or stolen by a mechanic while you are waiting.
Once the service/valet mode is activated and enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive once it is started. This prevents anyone else from driving the vehicle while you are away. Once you return it will revert back to normal driving, stopping your car from being tampered with or stolen once again.
We can install the Ghost to any BMW, all you need is the correct keys since it doesn't require the original remotes and can be used alongside them. If you don't wish to use a smartphone, or aren't comfortable using it, we offer an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires a new Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly advanced, the technology in security systems has to evolve, this is why Ghost has created this subtle and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from using keys or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive it off. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before the engine can start.
This will activate the anti-hijack mode and once active, any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. Once the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it fails to locate the correct code, it will also stall the engine (where possible). By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to temporarily start without the need to enter the PIN.
If you have an GPS device linked up to your BMW it is possible to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system in your car whilst the vehicle is parked and unattended. You can also use your mobile phone to control the anti theft feature, as well as other functions.

Remote Control
We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful when mechanics or valets need to start your car and you need to go somewhere other where. The system allows you to turn your vehicle on and off, then select drive and leave service mode without having your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on a map in real-time on your smartphone.
The Ghost can be positioned on the dashboard or in the centre console. It is completely concealed and secure, and does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is inserted into it. The pin code must be chosen before the engine starts. This will prevent thieves from gaining access to the system with an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.
If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into a service mode and disables all functions unless a PIN code is entered or you make use of the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was developed to protect your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who utilize relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from using their mobile phone to turn on your sat nav system or mp3 player to locate your car!
Ghost can also stop 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most common method of preventing a vehicle from being taken away with a key-fob that was copied or stolen via hacking. Ghost enables you to prevent this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle called Secure-A-Key. The device is installed in the key fob of your car and disconnects its battery after a few inactive minutes. This is possible using the most modern PKE keys.
